General Description

Check out the excellent craftsmanship on this custom remodeled Four Square style farmhouse with original woodwork & pocket doors! This remodel was down to the studs, and all the woodwork was sanded and redone. The custom kitchen is amazing with a built-in pantry, 2 lazy susans, Quartz counters, a deep sink, and new appliances! All the window replacements are modern but reflect the 3 pane trend in the home. The dining room can be closed off (pocket doors) to be formal or kept open with a large chandelier to entertain diners. A unique feature in the front porch is the 2 doors that access either the living room or the dining room. The main floor also has a new half bath and office/main floor bedroom option. Follow the wooden staircase up to the 2nd level, where you'll find 3 King-sized bedrooms and a wonderful full bathroom with laundry. This bathroom is a showpiece with a quarter size tiled floor, tiled tub, double vanity, large mirror, & built-in laundry cabinet. The floors upstairs are original and freshly redone! The primary bedroom is king-sized & has a walk-in closet with his/hers doors. You'll find bonus finishable space in the basement with a 3/4 bath already started & the framing up on another room. The sale includes the shower surround for this space. The basement has been dry, so the large middle section could be a finishable, possible 2nd living area. RO system, water softener, on-demand water heater, 200 amp electrical panel. The large yard is 0.70 acres and has a couple of cisterns for free garden water - the hand well does work I am told. Original single-stall garage & a new concrete patio off the rear of the home for easy outdoor fun!

"The Bridge"

"The Bridge" has been referred to by the Wharf Bridge, the Kentucky Fried Chicken Bridge, the bridge connecting East and West, among other names. In the good old days, this was actually a draw bridge converted to the current permanent structure. In the 90's when the 3 lane was installed, there was talk about removing the bridge and making some drastic changes. All in all, the base of the bridge remained, and the upper structure was improved. I remember as a kid jumping off the bridge, and fishing on and under the bridge. In fact, an unforgettable memory I have is when I was fishing with my cousin and I casted out trying to reach the opposite corner of the bridge with my lure. In mid air, a pigeon flew and the timing was so great that my line wrapped around the pigeon, and the pigeon went into the water. I reeled it up and had caught a pigeon. My cousin then decided to hold this pigeon inside the front of his coat. We went to show people at Okoboji Boats what we had caught. When we got there, he opened his jacket, and the pigeon had pooped all over his white shirt.
